You can hear That Spirit of Christmas

My latest single – AND my latest Christmas single – is already showing up on streaming services!

Usually I plan releases out weeks or months in advance. This year, as I wrote last week, I barely had the time to make a song in time for Christmas, never mind plan the release.

For those who don't know, in order to share a song on streaming services I upload it to a distributor – kind of a middle-man who will take the song and send to to all the places. Usually when I do that I say when I'd like the song to come out. Not this time. This being a cover song (which takes some extra admin and processing time) I wanted to be sure it would make it to your ears in advance of Christmas morning. So I simply said "as soon as possible".

Well, what to my wondering eyes should appear but my own song on Spotify, out now, right here ...https://open.spotify.com/track/6kOO6lTfy2WgCd7Xmea4xz?si=75d33cd90fdc4b12

It's also up on Youtube.

More streaming sites should be coming online any hour now, so be sure to search your site of choice for "That Spirit of Christmas Von Bieker" and see if we're there yet. I'll send an updated email later this week with all of the links.

I'm really proud of this recording – especially given its speedy production time of just a couple of weeks. Nathan Carroll collaborated with me on Ray Charles' That Spirit of Christmas and plays all the things. Well, I play a little guitar. I think we achieved a great overall sound and vibe and captured the way this song first made me feel when I heard it underscore Chevy Chase sense of holiday nostalgia in the Christmas Vacation attic scene.

You have seen Christmas Vacation, right?

While we're on the subject of Christmas, I have one more holiday show tomorrow night in Edmonton. I'm playing for the Writers Guild of Alberta Holiday Pub Night at Rooster Kitchen on Whyte Ave. Music starts at 7:30, all are welcome and there's no cover charge, so come on down if you're free and in town.

And after Christmas, the new year ...

Christie and I will be hosting our first house concert of the year on January 17 with fantastic folk/bluegrass artist T. Buckley!

I'll have a ticket link soon, but I wanted to give you the heads up today because this is a case of a pretty big artist in a pretty small space.

The world is wild and the nights are long, so take care of each other out there.

In dumb hope,

(Dave) Von Bieker
