Poem 6

I cannot explain God

Why I would believe in anything so ancient and abstract
So shrouded and veiled
So often plastered on the T-shirts of fanatics

I cannot explain Her

I cannot explain Him

I cannot explain It

It is not whether or not God makes sense to me
illogical
It is that God makes sense of everything else for me
Logic

Here, brother fish, let me tell you what water is
Let us move back far enough that we can see water
like people see it, lapping against our ankles
Then further still, until we see water
painted blue across the earth

But let us not forget that
when we do, we die
